Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)
Sahih International: He said, "O Adam, inform them of their names." And when he had informed them of their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed."
Pickthall: He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names, and when he had informed them of their names, He said: Did I not tell you that I know the secret of the heavens and the earth? And I know that which ye disclose and which ye hide.
Yusuf Ali: He said: "O Adam! Tell them their names." When he had told them, Allah said: "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth, and I know what ye reveal and what ye conceal?"
Shakir: He said: O Adam! inform them of their names. Then when he had informed them of their names, He said: Did I not say to you that I surely know what is ghaib in the heavens and the earth and (that) I know what you manifest and what you hide?
Muhammad Sarwar: The Lord said to Adam, "Tell the names of the beings to the angels." When Adam said their names, the Lord said, "Did I not tell you (angels) that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth and all that you reveal or hide?"
Mohsin Khan: He said: "O Adam! Inform them of their names," and when he had informed them of their names, He said: "Did I not tell you that I know the Ghaib (unseen) in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been concealing?"
Arberry: He said, 'Adam, tell them their names.' And when he had told them their names He said, 'Did I not tell you I know the unseen things of the heavens and earth? And I know what things you reveal, and what you were hiding.'
Allah berfirman: "Wahai Adam! Terangkanlah nama benda-benda ini semua kepada mereka". Maka setelah Nabi Adam menerangkan nama benda-benda itu kepada mereka, Allah berfirman: "Bukankah Aku telah katakan kepada kamu, bahawasanya Aku mengetahui segala rahsia langit dan bumi, dan Aku mengetahui apa yang kamu nyatakan dan apa yang kamu sembunyikan?".
[2:33] Tafsir Jalalayn
(Allah berfirman, "Hai Adam! Beritahukanlah kepada mereka) maksudnya kepada para malaikat itu (nama mereka") yakni benda-benda itu. Maka disebutnya satu persatu menurut nama masing-masing berikut hikmah diciptakannya oleh Allah. (Maka setelah diberitahukannya kepada mereka nama benda-benda itu, Allah berfirman) kepada mereka guna mencela mereka, ("Bukankah sudah Kukatakan kepada kalian bahwa Aku mengetahui rahasia langit dan bumi) maksudnya mengetahui barang yang tersembunyi pada keduanya, (dan mengetahui apa yang kamu lahirkan) yaitu ucapan yang kamu keluarkan, yaitu, 'Kenapa hendak Engkau jadikan... dan seterusnya' (dan apa yang kamu sembunyikan.") yaitu ucapan yang kamu sembunyikan, seperti "Allah tidak pernah menciptakan makhluk yang lebih mulia dan lebih pandai dari kami."

Allah berfirman kepada Adam, "Hai Adam, beritahulah nama benda-benda ini kepada malaikat." Adam kemudian melakukan perintah itu dan menunjukkan kelebihannya atas mereka. Di sini, Allah berfirman kepada mereka dengan mengingatkan keluasan ilmu-Nya, "Bukankah sudah Aku katakan kepada kalian bahwa Aku benar-benar mengetahui segala yang gaib di langit dan di bumi, dan tidak ada seorang pun yang mengetahuinya kecuali Aku, dan Aku mengetahui apa yang kalian tampakkan dalam ucapan dan apa yang kalian sembunyikan di dalam hati?"

Allah berfirman: "Hai Adam, beritahukanlah kepada mereka nama-nama benda ini". Maka setelah diberitahukannya kepada mereka nama-nama benda itu, Allah berfirman: "Bukankah sudah Ku-katakan kepadamu, bahwa sesungguhnya Aku mengetahui rahasia langit dan bumi dan mengetahui apa yang kamu lahirkan dan apa yang kamu sembunyikan?"
