The triliteral root ʿayn qāf dāl (ع ق د) occurs seven times in the Quran, in four derived forms:
- once as the form I verb ʿaqadat (عَقَدَتْ)
- once as the form II verb ʿaqqad (عَقَّد)
- four times as the noun ʿuq'dat (عُقْدَة)
- once as the noun ʿuqūd (عُقُود)
