The triliteral root khā dhāl lām (خ ذ ل) occurs three times in the Quran, in three derived forms:
- once as the form I verb yakhdhul (يَخْذُلْ)
- once as the adjective khadhūl (خَذُول)
- once as the passive participle makhdhūl (مَّخْذُول)

(3:160:8) yakhdhul'kum | He forsakes you | وَإِنْ يَخْذُلْكُمْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَنْصُرُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ |
Adjective
(25:29:11) khadhūlan | a deserter | وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنْسَانِ خَذُولًا |
Passive participle
