Chapter (7) sūrat l-aʿrāf (The Heights)
Sahih International: Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah , Lord of the worlds.
Pickthall: Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then mounted He the Throne. He covereth the night with the day, which is in haste to follow it, and hath made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by His command. His verily is all creation and commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!
Yusuf Ali: Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!
Shakir: Surely your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods of time, and He is firm in power; He throws the veil of night over the day, which it pursues incessantly; and (He created) the sun and the moon and the stars, made subservient by His command; surely His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
Muhammad Sarwar: Your Lord is God who established His dominion over the Throne (of the realm) after having created the heavens and the earth in six days. He made the night darken the day which it pursues at a (considerable) speed and He made the sun and the moon submissive to His command. Is it not He Who creates and governs all things? Blessed is God, the Cherisher of the Universe.
Mohsin Khan: Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!
Arberry: Surely your Lord is God, who created the heavens and the earth in six days -- then sat Himself upon the Throne, covering the day with the night it pursues urgently -- and the sun, and the moon, and the stars subservient, by His command. Verily, His are the creation and the command. Blessed be God, the Lord of all Being.
Sesungguhnya Tuhan kamu ialah Allah yang menciptakan langit dan bumi dalam enam masa lalu Ia bersemayam di atas Arasy; Ia melindungi malam dengan siang yang mengiringinya dengan deras (silih berganti) dan (Ia pula yang menciptakan) matahari dan bulan serta bintang-bintang, (semuanya) tunduk kepada perintahNya. Ingatlah, kepada Allah jualah tertentu urusan menciptakan (sekalian makhluk) dan urusan pemerintahan. Maha Suci Allah yang mencipta dan mentadbirkan sekalian alam.
[7:54] Tafsir Jalalayn
(Sesungguhnya Tuhan kamu ialah Allah yang telah menciptakan langit dan bumi dalam enam masa) menurut ukuran hari dunia atau yang sepadan dengannya, sebab pada zaman itu masih belum ada matahari. Akan tetapi jika Allah menghendakinya niscaya Ia dapat menciptakannya dalam sekejap mata, adapun penyebutan hal ini dimaksud guna mengajari makhluk-Nya agar tekun dan sabar dalam mengerjakan sesuatu (lalu Dia bersemayam di atas Arsy) Arsy menurut istilah bahasa artinya singgasana raja, yang dimaksud dengan bersemayam ialah yang sesuai dengan kebesaran Allah dan kesucian-Nya (Dia menutupkan malam kepada siang) bisa dibaca takhfif yakni yughsyii dan dibaca tasydid, yakni yughasysyii, artinya: keduanya itu saling menutupi yang lain silih-berganti (yang mengikutinya) masing-masing di antara keduanya itu mengikuti yang lainnya (dengan cepat) secara cepat (dan diciptakan-Nya pula matahari, bulan dan bintang-bintang) dengan dibaca nashab diathafkan kepada as-samaawaat, dan dibaca rafa` sebagai mubtada sedangkan khabarnya ialah (masing-masing tunduk) patuh (kepada perintah-Nya) kepada kekuasaan-Nya (ingatlah, menciptakan itu hanya hak Allah) semuanya (dan memerintah) kesemuanya adalah hak-Nya pula (Maha Suci) Maha Besar (Allah, Tuhan) Pemelihara (semesta alam).

Tuhan yang rasul-rasul-Nya menyeru kalian kepada kebenaran, percaya hari akhir dan pembalasan yang akan terjadi saat itu adalah pencipta alam semesta ini. Dia menciptakan langit dan bumi melalui enam keadaan yang menyerupai enam hari di dunia. Lalu di situ Dia berkuasa secara penuh. Dia jadikan malam, dengan kegelapannya, menutupi siang. Malam selalu diikuti siang secara teratur dan silih berganti. Seakan- akan yang satu mencari yang lain. Matahari, bulan dan bintang juga Dia ciptakan. Semuanya tunduk kepada Allah, berjalan sesuai dengan aturan-Nya. Penciptaan dan perintah yang ditaati hanyalah milik Dia semata. Mahasuci dan Mahatinggi keberkahan Sang Pencipta alam seisinya.

Sesungguhnya Tuhan kamu ialah Allah yang telah menciptakan langit dan bumi dalam enam masa, lalu Dia bersemayam di atas 'Arsy. Dia menutupkan malam kepada siang yang mengikutinya dengan cepat, dan (diciptakan-Nya pula) matahari, bulan dan bintang-bintang (masing-masing) tunduk kepada perintah-Nya. Ingatlah, menciptakan dan memerintah hanyalah hak Allah. Maha Suci Allah, Tuhan semesta alam.
