وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ﴿سورة البقرة آية ٢٠١﴾.

Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

Sahih International: But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

Pickthall: And of them (also) is he who saith: "Our Lord! Give unto us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and guard us from the doom of Fire."

Yusuf Ali: And there are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!"

Shakir: And there are some among them who say: Our Lord! grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire.

Muhammad Sarwar: Others pray, "Lord, give us good things both in this life as well as in the life hereafter and save us from the torment of fire".

Mohsin Khan: And of them there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!"

Arberry: And others there are who say, 'Our Lord, give to us in this world good, and good in the world to come, and guard us against the chastisement of the fire';

Dan di antara mereka pula ada yang (berdoa dengan) berkata: "Wahai Tuhan kami, berilah kami kebaikan di dunia dan kebaikan di akhirat, dan peliharalah kami dari azab neraka".
[2:201] Tafsir Jalalayn
(Dan di antara mereka ada pula yang berdoa, "Ya Tuhan kami! Berilah kami di dunia kebaikan), artinya nikmat, (di akhirat kebaikan) yakni surga, (dan peliharalah kami dari siksa neraka.") yakni dengan tidak memasukinya. Ini merupakan lukisan tentang keadaan orang-orang musyrik dan keadaan orang-orang beriman, yang tujuannya ialah supaya kita mencari dua macam kebaikan dunia dan akhirat, sebagaimana telah dijanjikan akan beroleh pahala dengan firman-Nya:

Sebagian manusia ada yang diberi petunjuk oleh Allah sehingga, dengan sepenuh hati, mereka memohon kebaikan dunia dan akhirat serta memohon kepada Allah agar dijauhi siksa api neraka.
