أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمْ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ ﴿سورة الأنعام آية ٦﴾.

[6:6] Basmeih
Tidakkah mereka memerhati dan memikirkan berapa banyak umat-umat yang telah Kami binasakan sebelum mereka, padahal (umat-umat itu) telah Kami teguhkan kedudukan mereka di muka bumi (dengan kekuasaan dan kemewahan) yang tidak Kami berikan kepada kamu, dan Kami turunkan hujan atas mereka dengan lebatnya, dan Kami jadikan sungai-sungai mengalir di bawah mereka, kemudian Kami binasakan mereka dengan sebab dosa mereka mereka, dan Kami ciptakan sesudah mereka, umat yang lain?
[6:6] Tafsir Jalalayn
(Apakah mereka tidak memperhatikan) dalam perjalanan-perjalanan mereka menuju ke negeri Syam dan negeri-negeri lainnya (berapa banyak) kalimat khabariah atau bukan kata tanya yang artinya betapa banyaknya (generasi-generasi yang telah Kami binasakan sebelum mereka) umat-umat yang terdahulu (padahal mereka telah Kami teguhkan) Kami berikan kedudukan (di muka bumi) melalui kekuatan dan kekuasaannya (yaitu keteguhan yang belum pernah Kami menganugerahkan) Kami berikan (kepadamu) dalam Lafal ini terkandung pengertian iltifat/peralihan dari orang ketiga ke orang kedua yang maksudnya ditujukan kepada orang ketiga (dan Kami curahkan) hujan (atas mereka dengan derasnya) tahap demi tahap (dan Kami jadikan sungai-sungai mengalir di bawah mereka) di bawah rumah-rumah tempat tinggal mereka (kemudian Kami binasakan mereka karena dosa-dosa mereka sendiri) oleh sebab kedustaan mereka terhadap para nabi (dan Kami ciptakan sesudah mereka generasi yang lain.)
[6:6] Quraish Shihab
Apakah mereka tidak mengetahui bahwa Kami telah menghancurkan banyak bangsa sebelum mereka. Kami beri mereka sebagian faktor kekuatan untuk bertahan di bumi, yang belum pernah Kami berikan kepada kalian. Kami luaskan rezeki mereka, Kami turunkan kepada mereka hujan deras yang bermanfaat bagi kehidupan mereka, dan Kami alirkan sungai-sungai di bawah istana-istana mereka. Tetapi mereka tidak mensyukuri nikmat-nikmat itu. Maka, karena kesyirikan dan banyaknya dosa mereka itu, mereka Kami hancurkan lalu Kami ganti dengan bangsa lain yang lebih baik.
[6:6] Bahasa Indonesia
Apakah mereka tidak memperhatikan berapa banyak generasi yang telah Kami binasakan sebelum mereka, padahal (generasi itu) telah Kami teguhkan kedudukan mereka di muka bumi, yaitu keteguhan yang belum pernah Kami berikan kepadamu, dan Kami curahkan hujan yang lebat atas mereka dan Kami jadikan sungai-sungai mengalir di bawah mereka, kemudian Kami binasakan mereka karena dosa mereka sendiri, dan Kami ciptakan sesudah mereka generasi yang lain.

Sahih International: Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others.

Pickthall: See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you, and We shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation.

Yusuf Ali: See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).

Shakir: Do they not consider how many a generation We have destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth as We have not established you, and We sent the clouds pouring rain on them in abundance, and We made the rivers to flow beneath them, then We destroyed them on account of their faults and raised up after them another generation.

Muhammad Sarwar: Why do they not consider how many generations living before them We have destroyed. We established those nations in the land with abilities far beyond those given to you. We sent down plenty of rain from the sky for them and made streams flow therein, but, then, We destroyed them for their sins and established other nations after them.

Mohsin Khan: Have they not seen how many a generation before them We have destroyed whom We had established on the earth such as We have not established you? And We poured out on them rain from the sky in abundance, and made the rivers flow under them. Yet We destroyed them for their sins, and created after them other generations.

Arberry: Have they not regarded how We destroyed before them many a generation We established in the earth, as We never established you, and how We loosed heaven upon them in torrents, and made the rivers to flow beneath them? Then We destroyed them because of their sins, and raised up after them another generation;
