ٱلَّذِينَ يَذۡكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَـٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمۡ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقۡتَ هَٰذَا بَـٰطِلًا سُبۡحَٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ﴿سورة آل عمران آية ١٩١﴾.

Verse (3:191) - English Translation

Chapter (3) sūrat āl ʿim'rān (The Family of Imrān)

Sahih International: Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Pickthall: Such as remember Allah, standing, sitting, and reclining, and consider the creation of the heavens and the earth, (and say): Our Lord! Thou createdst not this in vain. Glory be to Thee! Preserve us from the doom of Fire.

Yusuf Ali: Men who celebrate the praises of Allah, standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth, (With the thought): "Our Lord! not for naught Hast Thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give us salvation from the penalty of the Fire.

Shakir: Those who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord! Thou hast not created this in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement of the fire:

Muhammad Sarwar: It is these who commemorate God while standing, sitting, or resting on their sides and who think about the creation of the heavens and the earth and say, "Lord, you have not created all this without reason. Glory be to you. Lord, save us from the torment of the fire".

Mohsin Khan: Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.

Arberry: who remember God, standing and sitting and on their sides, and reflect upon the creation of the heavens and the earth: 'Our Lord, Thou hast not created this for vanity. Glory be to Thee! Guard us against the chastisement of the Fire.

(Iaitu) orang-orang yang menyebut dan mengingati Allah semasa mereka berdiri dan duduk dan semasa mereka berbaring mengiring, dan mereka pula memikirkan tentang kejadian langit dan bumi (sambil berkata): "Wahai Tuhan kami! Tidaklah Engkau menjadikan benda-benda ini dengan sia-sia, Maha Suci Engkau, maka peliharalah kami dari azab neraka.

[3:191] Tafsir Jalalayn

(Yakni orang-orang yang) menjadi 'na`at' atau badal bagi yang sebelumnya (mengingat Allah di waktu berdiri dan duduk dan ketika berbaring) artinya dalam keadaan bagaimana pun juga sedang menurut Ibnu Abbas mengerjakan salat dalam keadaan tersebut sesuai dengan kemampuan (dan mereka memikirkan tentang kejadian langit dan bumi) untuk menyimpulkan dalil melalui keduanya akan kekuasaan Allah, kata mereka: ("Wahai Tuhan kami! Tidaklah Engkau ciptakan ini) maksudnya makhluk yang kami saksikan ini (dengan sia-sia) menjadi hal sebaliknya semua ini menjadi bukti atas kesempurnaan kekuasaan-Mu (Maha Suci Engkau) artinya tidak mungkin Engkau akan berbuat sia-sia (maka lindungilah kami dari siksa neraka.)

[3:191] Quraish Shihab

Telah menjadi ciri Ulû al-Albâb bahwa mereka selalu merenungkan keagungan dan kebesaran Allah dalam hati di mana pun mereka berada, dalam keadaan duduk, berdiri dan berbaring. Mereka selalu merenungkan penciptaan langit dan bumi, dan keunikan yang terkandung di dalamnya sambil berkata, "Tuhanku, tidak Engkau ciptakan jagat ini tanpa ada hikmah yang telah Engkau tentukan di balik itu. Engkau tersucikan dari sifat-sifat serba kurang, bahkan ciptaan-Mu itu sendiri adalah bukti kekuasaan dan hikmah-Mu. Hindarkanlah kami dari siksa neraka, dan berilah kami taufik untuk menaati segala perintah-Mu.

(yaitu) orang-orang yang mengingat Allah sambil berdiri atau duduk atau dalam keadan berbaring dan mereka memikirkan tentang penciptaan langit dan bumi (seraya berkata): "Ya Tuhan kami, tiadalah Engkau menciptakan ini dengan sia-sia, Maha Suci Engkau, maka peliharalah kami dari siksa neraka.
