Surah Al Baqarah Ayat 8

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿سورة البقرة آية ٨﴾.

Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

Sahih International: And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers.

Pickthall: And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not.

Yusuf Ali: Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe.

Shakir: And there are some people who say: We believe in Allah and the last day; and they are not at all believers.

Muhammad Sarwar: Some people say, "We believe in God and the Day of Judgment," but they are not true believers.

Mohsin Khan: And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day" while in fact they believe not.

Arberry: And some men there are who say, 'We believe in God and the Last Day'; but they are not believers.

Dan di antara manusia ada yang berkata: "Kami telah beriman kepada Allah dan kepada hari akhirat"; padahal mereka sebenarnya tidak beriman.
[2:8] Tafsir Jalalayn
(Di antara manusia ada orang yang mengatakan, "Kami beriman kepada Allah dan hari akhir.") yaitu hari kiamat, karena hari itu adalah hari terakhir. (Padahal mereka bukan orang-orang yang beriman). Di sini ditekankan arti kata 'orang', jika kata ganti yang disebutkan lafalnya, yakni 'mereka'.

Di antara golongan yang ingkar itu terdapat sekelompok manusia yang mengatakan sesuatu yang sesungguhnya tidak lahir dari dalam hati nurani mereka. Dengan maksud memperlihatkan keimanan, mereka berkata, "Kami beriman kepada Allah dan hari kiamat." Padahal sesungguhnya perkataan itu tidak benar. Maka dari itu, mereka tidak termasuk golongan orang yang beriman.
