هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلۡحَشۡرِۚ مَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن يَخۡرُجُواْۖ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مَّانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحۡتَسِبُواْۖ وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعۡبَۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُم بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيۡدِي ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ يَٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ ﴿سورة الحشر آية ٢﴾.

[59:2] Basmeih

Dia lah yang telah mengeluarkan orang-orang kafir di antara Ahli Kitab - dari kampung halaman mereka pada julung-julung kali mereka berhimpun hendak memerangi Rasulullah. Kamu (wahai umat Islam) tidak menyangka bahawa mereka akan keluar (disebabkan bilangannya yang ramai dan pertahanannya yang kuat), dan mereka pula menyangka bahawa benteng-benteng mereka akan dapat menahan serta memberi perlindungan kepada mereka (dari azab) Allah. Maka Allah menimpakan (azabNya) kepada mereka dari arah yang tidak terlintas dalam fikiran mereka, serta dilemparkanNya perasaan cemas takut ke dalam hati mereka, (lalu) mereka membinasakan rumah-rumah mereka dengan tangan mereka sendiri (dari dalam) sambil tangan orang-orang yang beriman (yang mengepung mereka berbuat demikian dari luar). Maka insaflah dan ambilah pelajaran (dari peristiwa itu) wahai orang-orang yang berakal fikiran serta celik mata hatinya.

[59:2] Tafsir Jalalayn

(Dialah Yang mengeluarkan orang-orang kafir di antara ahli kitab) mereka adalah Bani Nadhir yang terdiri dari orang-orang Yahudi (dari kampung mereka) dari tempat-tempat tinggal mereka di Madinah (pada saat pengusiran pertama) yaitu sewaktu mereka diusir ke negeri Syam, dan terakhir mereka diusir ke tanah Khaibar oleh Khalifah Umar semasa ia menjabat sebagai khalifah. (Kalian tidak mengira) hai orang-orang mukmin (bahwa mereka akan keluar dan mereka pun yakin, bahwa dapat mencegah mereka) lafal maani'atuhum adalah khabar dari anna (benteng-benteng mereka) menjadi fa'il dari lafal maani'atuhum; dan dengan keberadaannya maka lengkaplah pengertian khabar (dari Allah) yakni dari azab-Nya (maka Allah mendatangkan kepada mereka) hukuman dan azab-Nya (dari arah yang tidak mereka sangka-sangka) yakni dari pihak kaum mukminin yang hal ini tidak masuk ke dalam perhitungan mereka. (Dan Allah melemparkan) maksudnya menanamkan (rasa takut ke dalam hati mereka) dapat dibaca ar-ru'ba atau ar-ru'uba, artinya rasa takut mati, karena pemimpin mereka bernama Ka'b bin Asyraf telah terbunuh mati (mereka memusnahkan) dapat dibaca yukharribuuna, dan kalau dibaca yukhribuuna berarti berasal dari lafal akhraba, artinya merusak (rumah-rumah mereka) untuk mengambil barang-barang yang dianggap berharga oleh mereka berupa kayu-kayu dan lain-lainnya (dengan tangan mereka sendiri dan tangan orang-orang yang beriman. Maka ambillah hal itu untuk menjadi pelajaran, hai orang-orang yang mempunyai pandangan).

[59:2] Quraish Shihab

Dia yang mengusir kaum Ahl al-Kitâb yang kafir (bangsa Yahudi suku Banû Nadlîr) dari kampung halaman mereka, pada saat pengusiran bangsa Yahudi dari Jazirah Arab kali yang pertama. Kalian, wahai kaum Muslimin, tidak mengira bahwa mereka akan hengkang dari kampung halaman karena begitu kuatnya mereka. Mereka sendiri pun mengira bahwa benteng-benteng yang mereka miliki akan mampu melindungi diri mereka dari azab Allah. Tetapi Allah menyiksa mereka dari arah yang tidak mereka sangka, lalu memasukkan rasa takut yang sangat ke dalam hati mereka. Mereka merusak rumah tempat tinggal mereka dengan tangan mereka sendiri untuk dibiarkan kosong, dan dengan tangan kaum mukminin untuk merusak perlindungan mereka. Oleh karena itu, ambillah pelajaran dari sesuatu yang terjadi pada mereka itu, wahai orang-orang yang mempunyai akal pikiran.

[59:2] Bahasa Indonesia

Dialah yang mengeluarkan orang-orang kafir di antara ahli kitab dari kampung-kampung mereka pada saat pengusiran yang pertama. Kamu tidak menyangka, bahwa mereka akan keluar dan merekapun yakin, bahwa benteng-benteng mereka dapat mempertahankan mereka dari (siksa) Allah; maka Allah mendatangkan kepada mereka (hukuman) dari arah yang tidak mereka sangka-sangka. Dan Allah melemparkan ketakutan dalam hati mereka; mereka memusnahkan rumah-rumah mereka dengan tangan mereka sendiri dan tangan orang-orang mukmin. Maka ambillah (kejadian itu) untuk menjadi pelajaran, hai orang-orang yang mempunyai wawasan.

Sahih International: It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah ; but [the decree of] Allah came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.

Pickthall: He it is Who hath caused those of the People of the Scripture who disbelieved to go forth from their homes unto the first exile. Ye deemed not that they would go forth, while they deemed that their strongholds would protect them from Allah. But Allah reached them from a place whereof they recked not, and cast terror in their hearts so that they ruined their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers. So learn a lesson, O ye who have eyes!

Yusuf Ali: It is He Who got out the Unbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering (of the forces). Little did ye think that they would get out: And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But the (Wrath of) Allah came to them from quarters from which they little expected (it), and cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their dwellings by their own hands and the hands of the Believers, take warning, then, O ye with eyes (to see)!

Shakir: He it is Who caused those who disbelieved of the followers of the Book to go forth from their homes at the first banishment you did not think that they would go forth, while they were certain that their fortresses would defend them against Allah; but Allah came to them whence they did not expect, and cast terror into their hearts; they demolished their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers; therefore take a lesson, O you who have eyes!

Muhammad Sarwar: It is He who drove the disbelievers among the followers of the Bible out of their homes (in the Arabian Peninsula) as the first time exiles. You did not think that they would leave their homes and they thought that their fortresses would save them from God. The decree of God came upon them in a way that even they did not expect. He caused such terror to enter their hearts that they started to destroy their own homes by their own hands and by those of the believers. People of vision, learn from this a lesson.

Mohsin Khan: He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the people of the Scripture (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Bani An-Nadir) from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But Allah's (Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see).

Arberry: It is He who expelled from their habitations the unbelievers among the People of the Book at the first mustering. You did not think that they would go forth, and they thought that their fortresses would defend them against God; then God came upon them from whence they had not reckoned, and He cast terror into their hearts as they destroyed their houses with their own hands, and the hands of the believers; therefore take heed, you who have eyes!
